Oh boy. I assume a lot of the Covid public health blunders at the lower level were more incompetence than maliciousness, but if this monkeypox thing blows up we’re going to see what short-sighted strategy brings. When the Covid vaxx came out we had to stop people from trying to cheat the system to skip the line (a GOOD thing , actually, both as a reflection of trust in vaccines but also a very strong psychological motivator to encourage uptake(“get it while you can!”)). I don’t think we’ll see that this time, which is a real shame.
