In spite of having clicked the like button, I can’t exactly say that I like this post. Nonetheless, I think you are right, unfortunately.

It’s not hard to imagine that our species is ending itself.

Oh boy. I assume a lot of the Covid public health blunders at the lower level were more incompetence than maliciousness, but if this monkeypox thing blows up we’re going to see what short-sighted strategy brings. When the Covid vaxx came out we had to stop people from trying to cheat the system to skip the line (a GOOD thing , actually, both as a reflection of trust in vaccines but also a very strong psychological motivator to encourage uptake(“get it while you can!”)). I don’t think we’ll see that this time, which is a real shame.

Great post; thanks for giving a measured take on this!

Thanks for your comments— I agree we saw (likely) more incompetence than anything. I worry for the “next one” whether it’s monkeypox or something else.

I think all he did was post that the WHO was meeting today. And they are.

Sorry, I’m taking the piss, as so often. I think he’s also a big Covid commentator.

Sorry — just dense after a long day! And yes he is!

And his tweets _do_ bring all the lunatics to the yard! :)

He then shifted his bio to conflict expert when Ukraine was invaded! Total grifter.
